An elderly couple who died after being hit by a car while crossing the road.



The man of 87 years died at the crash site in Greenock Road, Largs, North Ayrshire, around 9:15 a.m. today.


His 84-year-old woman was taken to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, where he later died.

Officers informed the family.

The couple was hit by a red Toyota, which was traveling north on the highway. The female driver of 34 years old, was not injured but was taken to Inverclyde Hospital in Greenock as a precaution, police said.

Greenock Road was closed between Nelson Street and Brisbane Road as officers investigated the scene.
