Woman driver has lucky escape after his car plunges into the sea

A woman was lucky to escape unharmed after his car crashed into the sea.



The 23-year-old was driving alone when she fell in the North Sea, off the coast of Peterhead South Breakwater at about 05:00 today.


Police, coastguard and ambulance crews were called to the scene, but the woman had already been helped out of the water, passing members of the public.

She was not injured but was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution. The vehicle remains in the water and must be recovered later.

Police said they are investigating how the accident happened.
